THEATRECRAFT HERNE BAY was founded in 1948 and is affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Association (NODA).
From small beginnings, THEATRECRAFT has presented over 100 plays, 45 pantomimes, 40 musicals and some 10 revues of compilation shows. With three productions a year, including a summer musical, a pantomime and a play, THEATRECRAFT offers a diverse range of shows, ensuring a complete cross section of society within the audiences it attracts.
The number of people involved over the years is hard to estimate, but runs into hundreds. We are truly a ‘family’ society, with a recent production involving three generations!!!! Today, THEATRECRAFT is a thriving theatrical company, with strong Links to its local community. We consider ourselves to be true ‘strolling players’ as, unlike many societies, we are not committed to any one venue, but are free to choose the ‘right’ performance space for the ‘right’ production.
This means that in any one year THEATRECRAFT may produce a pantomime at the Kings Hall Theatre in Herne Bay, as well as offering drama and comedy in the superbly intimate setting of the Playhouse in Whitstable, and a musical during the Summer.
Some recent accolades have included:
